The University of Miami /JFK Medical Center Palm Beach Regional GME Consortium Internal Medicine and Surgery Residencies are based in South Florida’s finest hospitals. These clinical sites provide experience in hospital-based and ambulatory care to a diverse population of patients with a wide spectrum of clinical diseases from the ordinary to the extraordinary. These hospitals pride themselves on the delivery of the highest quality in patient care making them ideal locations for graduate medical education programs.

JFK Medical Center

JFK Medical CenterJFK Medical Center is a 460 bed acute medical surgical hospital in Atlantis, Florida. Its occupancy rate is approximately 88%, with virtually no seasonal variation, and over 26,000 inpatient admissions per year. It serves a broad range of patients, and has an established reputation in the area of cardiac services (performing over 500 cardiac surgeries and 7,000 cardiac interventions per year), acute stroke services (250 to date since certification as a stroke center in late 2005), and cancer care (over 27,000 procedures during the last 12 months). Among its many innovative programs are a vascular center performing advanced carotid and other peripheral stenting procedures, a regional neuroscience center, bariatric surgery, a sleep lab, a state of the art palliative care facility, a wound center and an orthopedically-directed human motion institute. The facility has the latest digital MRI equipment and has a 64 slice CT scanner. Radiology is accessible on the floor with a regional PACS system. Approximately 500 physicians are members of the active staff. The hospital has progressively embraced quality initiatives, including IHI and Leapfrog recommendations. JFK physician staff have been engaged in the development of and teaching in the the University of Miami regional campus educational program.


West Palm Bch VA Center The West Palm Beach VAMC, the facility some 20 minutes from JFK, is an eleven year old modern facility, caring for approximately 70,000 veterans in Palm Beach County. West Palm Beach Veterans Affairs Hospital is considered to be one of the most highly regarded VA hospitals in the country. Its full time department of medicine includes 66 physicians, 20 of whom are hospitalists and the remainder of whom are subspecialists. The Primary Care Department, directed by an internist, also includes dermatologists and neurologists. With its EMR and routinely measured patient outcomes, it is repeatedly recognized as an efficient facility committed to quality care. Many of its full time staff have been recruited from previous training programs or academic departments. The leadership of the facility has been committed to developing training programs.

Jackson Memorial Hospital/University of Miami

Jackson Hospital Jackson Memorial Hospital /University of Miami is a tertiary health center with more than 1500 beds. It is also home to the Ryder Trauma Center. Our residents will have rotations here in trauma, pediatric surgery, hepato-biliary surgery and a brief exposure to organ transplantation. As University of Miami trainees, all residents will have access to more than 5,000 current electronic full-text journals and books accessible from the University of Miami Louis Calder Memorial Library’s website. This includes the online catalog; online bibliographic databases, such as MEDLINE; online full-text databases of books and journals; and online directories. The library also offers advanced training in PubMed, MEDLINE, and RefWorks. These resources are easily accessible from all training sites, homes, and private physician offices.

TrustBridge Health

Hospice of Palm Beach CountyWith hospice care being an integral part of Palm Beach and Broward counties, Hospice of Palm Beach County joined with Hospice by the Sea in 2014 to form Trustbridge Health. Trustbridge Health has 9 inpatient care centers in Palm beach and Broward counties, provides care for 1,900 hospice patients daily, with 1,400 employees and 800 volunteers.
